Project Readings

As you begin work on your independent projects, I’d still like to make sure that all of you have a good sense of what the other people in the class are working on. I’d thus like you to post one reading from your list of materials that you think the rest of will find interesting. (You can include a link to the piece or embed a PDF of it in your post.) I’d also like you to write a brief “teaser”for the piece that includes:

  • Bibliographic Info: Author, Title, Date, Place of Publication
  • Context: Any background info about either the author or the piece that you think would be helpful.
  • A brief description of the role you think the piece will play in your writing.
  • A brief description of why you think this piece will interest the other members of this class.

I’ll then ask you each of you to choose three pieces that you’re interested in writing, to do so, and to write a brief comment about it. We’ll talk together about the group of readings on Mon, 10/21, and Wed, 10/23.

You’ll thus want to be strategic in selecting the piece you want to share. You’re not trying to impress the other people in the room, you’re trying to engage them, and maybe even to offer them something they can use in their own work.

I think that if we do this right, this should actually be a fun assignment!
